Do I need a Skype Phone?
To use Skype, you need to download their software. Once installed, you will be able to talk to your friends who also have Skype installed with a headset connected to your computer.
If you dont like using a headset, you can use a Skype USB phone which plugs into a free USB port.
If you prefer to use hands-free devices, you can also use your existing bluetooth mobile phone or a bluetooth headset (dongle required) with your PC or laptop.
There are also USB adapters that you can plug your existing phone into.
All the above requires that your computer is switched on in order to make or receive skype calls.
How does it fit in to my setup?
Most Skype hardware (phone, dongle, adapter) connects to a spare USB port.
Note: Netgear is about to release a WiFi phone with Skype built-in and also a WiFi router with Skype optimisation.
